Site Policy on Notices to Mariners

Area Covered

The Notices to Mariners service on this site is confined to an area from The Wash to Ramsgate, including the Goodwin Sands. Links are provided to access Admiralty and Imray Notices to Mariners on the main page. On the first ‘child’ page, links are provided to the authorities of Trinity House, Port of London, Harwich Haven, Medway, Crouch, Brightlingsea and Great Yarmouth; on the second child page links are provided to wind farm sites under construction.

The Main Notices to Mariners Page ‘Admiralty Notices to Mariners’

This page is compiled by CrossingTheThamesEstuary.com for readers’ convenience, using weekly Admiralty Notices to Mariners. This page shows the current date of notices included. Each notice will indicate the Admiralty and Imray charts affected by the notice. This includes Admiralty and Imray Leisure Folios. Between the time of publication of the main weekly Notices to Mariners and the updating of the Admiralty Leisure and Imray notices, this site will indicate where a main Notice to Mariners may affect one of those products. That will be shown in the Area pages. This notification, however, will be the opinion of the editors of this site and there can be no guarantee that the subsequent notices for those products will include the item.

There are three services here:

1.   Area service

All permanent Notices to Mariners, whether from the Admiralty site or one of the other authorities, are listed here, but for quick reference and convenience, the notices are split into six areas. The areas and the Admiralty Chart Nos that are monitored by Crossing The Thames Estuary are:

The Wash to Blakeney

Blakeney to Orfordness

Orfordness to Frinton

Frinton to Havengore

Havengore to Ramsgate

Mid-Estuary notices

These correspond to the following Admiralty Charts:

2.   Chronological service of Admiralty Notices

All of the 2010 notices are archived for access and 2011 notices will be updated on a weekly basis. Where possible and useful an image of the correction will be provided which will be downloadable.

3.   Temporary Notices to Mariners

This table shows temporary notices currently in force as issued by the Admiralty, Trinity House or Harbour Authority. Temporary notices issued by wind farm construction companies can vary every week and accordingly these can be accessed on the separate page.

Notice to Mariners - The Links Page

This page provide links directly to the notices issued by Imray and for the Admiralty Leisure charts. Inevitably there is a delay in the update of these notices as they do not happen simultaneously with the weekly issue of notices by the Admiralty. The page also provides links to Trinity House and Harbour Authority notices to mariners pages.

Every effort is made to ensure accuracy, but this site cannot take responsibility for the accuracy of the linked pages, which are the responsibility of their editors.

Further services involving RSS weekly alerts are planned.
